Believe it or not, 2009 is more than halfway over...
What does this mean? It means that it's time to stand still for a second and take a long hard look at yourself and what you've done over the past 6 months. Have you put your best foot forward day in and day out and achieved the most that was humanly possible up until this point? Or have you fallen short of your potential in any way, shape, or form? Think about that for a second...and give yourself an honest answer. Either way, it means that it's time to evaluate, re-calculate, and establish your goals for the next 6 months.
In order to make this process as effective as possible, I want all of you to do FOUR things...
Number one, get a pen and an index card and write out at least THREE clear and measureable goals. Whether it's cutting 10 minutes off of your 5k time (or any other workout), doing your first unassisted pull-up, or dropping another 5% bodyfat...whatever your goals may be, write them down and bring me a copy. Number two, take some pictures. Throw on some shorts and sports bra (shirtless for guys) and have a spouse, friend, or whoever snap a few photos for you then throw them in an envelope and SEAL IT. Screw the scale, pictures don't lie. Number three, CHALLENGE YOURSELF. Don't be scared of brick walls...we're all going to hit them at some point if we're training hard enough. But just remember that they are only there to stop those who don't want what's on the other side bad enough. If you've been stuck on a certain weight with your deadlift or your overhead press or your snatch, find out what the problem is and FIX IT. If you've mastered the basics of the jump rope, master the double under. If just hearing the word "burpee" makes you cringe and look for the nearest exit, DO MORE BURPEES. And number four, get on point with your DIET! Your performance capacity, your recovery ability, and your appearance all depend heavily on what you eat! I am well aware of the fact that all of you have already made major changes in regard to eating healthier, and I applaud your efforts...BUT it's time to finally zero in and realize the magnitude of our dietary habits. Think about it, if you've been eating "ok" and you've managed to make significant progress thus far, imagine what you could do if you were eating great? Also, think about the plateaus you've hit (performance wise and aesthetically) and any nagging injuries you've accumulated... It's all related to what you eat! So get it together!
Now, moving forward... These next few weeks are going to usher in the new era of our existance. I strongly encourage all of you to take the 30 day Paleo challenge, hell...I'm even doing it myself. I GUARANTEE that it will change EVERYTHING for the better. Also, we're hitting the CrossFit benchmark WODs like there's no tomorrow. Grace, Eva, Helen, Murph...you name it, we're doing it. Furthermore, I'm putting up an official record board to chart our accomplishments...and from now on there will be a master workout log available in which EVERYONE will be REQUIRED to record their workout data after each class.
To those of you who have been lurking around the site and those of you on the outside who have been peeking over the fence for the last few months, it's time to make a move! Every last person who has entered our space with an unrelenting spirit and an unwavering level of dedication is now a changed man or woman. Afraid? Well, you should be...but not for the reasons you may think. Whether someone's been here a year or a month, they are all afraid when they walk through the door every day. But that fear isn't of the workout itself, or getting injured, or anything like that...it's the fear of drifting back into mediocrity. It's the fear of being average that we dread. Every day we do something amazing here. Every day we go above and beyond the norm. Every day we prove to ourselves that we are stronger mentally and physically than we thought we could have ever been. Why? Because every day is an opportunity to be a better person than you were the day before...and living out each day as a fully functional and healthy person is a GIFT. Doing just enough to get by is not only cheating yourself, but it's wasting an opportunity that thousands of other people would do anything to have. Think about the people who physically CAN'T run. Think about the people who physically CAN'T do a pull-up or a push-up. Think about those people next time you attempt to tell yourself you "can't" get up to do your workout. Let the fact sink in that you have a healthy heart, healthy lungs, and all of your limbs are in tact. Then proceed to re-evaluate the meaning of "cant".
And to our brothers and sisters who have gone M.I.A., where the hell are you people?! We don't do M.I.A. here... It's all or nothing! The opportunity to become ALL you ever wanted to be is right here. And NOTHING is what will you get if you keep standing where you are. Let's GO!
It's time to make that choice again...

Hmmmmmm. I already have photos for myself, but I guess I should take new ones.
As far as starting the Paleo 30.. It's strictly Paleo, not Paleo/Zone right?
Not having a cheat day to look forward to is going to be hard but I have to find a way to get this eating plan right somehow. So i am in... Oh Goddess give me strength to avoid the tempting call of Margaritas for the next 33 days.

Mike text him... I do not believe we are having a workout tomorrow.
Hey Mike, I texted you earlier from my other phone...I guess you didn't get my message. No workout tomorrow morning!

Cool... you too Mike. Enjoy it.
In other news.... I shall be starting the 30 day challenge on Sunday. Some plans fell through for tomorrow morning, so I won't have to be anywhere until the late afternoon so I will use the day to prepare my Paleo Meals for the week. =)
