ANNOUNCEMENT - Let's Get Social: UPDATED!

Hello all,

I would like to extend an invitation to all of you for three upcoming events involving members of the BDBFC crew. And this is actually perfect timing because I was planning on making an announcement on this topic very soon anyway. I'd like for all of us to start getting together outside of the gym on occasion for a little fun! If we can enjoy ourselves in sweaty gym clothes lifting heavy sh*t over our heads, imagine what we could do during our leisurely time! Anyway, whoever's interested in coming out leave a comment!

Also for any of you who would like the additional support at any personal events going on, email me and I'll post it!

Now, for the events:

#1: Film Nite In The Garden!!!

Marli, Marina, and Tony would like to invite you all to a fun-filled event with other amazing live and energetic souls to witness and discuss the following eye-opening film "SIMPLY RAW". Check out the trailer below:

If you want to bring anyone, feel free to do so (especially anybody with diabetes!), there should be plenty of room in the garden. Also, they will try to get a copy of the film for all to take home and share with family and friends!

They are thinking about doing it this upcoming weekend (May 23-24) on either Saturday or Sunday around 5pm. They will choose the day based on the majority vote, so if you're interested in coming please post ASAP!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER. LET US GET SOME...together!

#2: PAINTBALL!!!

Paintball, yes...paintball. Stop being a PANSY! Andrea is rallying the troops for a paintball outing in Barryville NY on Saturday June 13th!

Straight from Andrea: "I plan on making the reservations by June 5, 2009. So please RSVP by then and only RSVP IF YOU ARE COMMITTED ON GOING! Please don't make me charge this and then you decide to back out...because I swear I will kick some serious ass! Lol!

Games begin between 9:30 and 10:00 AM, so we need to arrive between 8:30 and 9:30 AM at their BARRYVILLE ADVENTURE CENTER to sign up. (WHICH MEANS WE WILL BE STARTING OUT BETWEEN 6 and 6:30 AM THE LATEST BECAUSE IT'S APPROXIMATELY A 2 HOUR DRIVE! BRING your own lunch, and plenty of beverages - OR - you can purchase your lunch from the Kittatinny campground deli prior to going to the top of the mountain.

My suggestion.... depending on the number of cars going... I think that those that ride together should converse and bring their own cooler. Contact me if you want to make a trip to Costco and split the bill on some stuff, we'll talk about it."

Paintball
$34.95 per person (All Day Pass)
Children must be 12 or older, with parental consent. Private playing fields for groups (They can not gaurantee a private field but the more people we have going the better our chances). Includes: 100 Paintballs, FREE CO2 or air (all day), Protective face mask, Tippman 98 custom semi-automatics.

100 paintballs - $7.00
500 paintballs - $31.00

#3: Roller Derby Double Header!!!

Shad, one of our newest additions to the crew, welcomes us all to watch his wife Jennifer's Roller Derby match on Friday June 19th at the CT Sports Center! Admission is just $15.00, doors open at 5:30pm, and the action takes place between 6:30pm-10:00pm. If you love roller derby, have never seen roller derby or play roller derby, this is a bout you don't want to miss!

This should be fun as all hell, so come make it happen! And I've know all of you long enough to know that none of you are doing anything on Friday night anyway so don't even try to lie! Hahaha.

Of course I'll be at all three, so who's joining me?!

New members, old members, anonymous lurkers on our site...whoever! Let's do it!

While I applaud the tape on diabetes, it appears that they're speaking of Type II, a far cry from the Type I that my daughter has. In any event, Jeanne and I have a commitment almost every weekend (including this one) that precludes us from attending these events, despite our desire to participate.

Ok, well thanks for responding Tom! We know you and Jeanne are always out and about so no worries.

I will definitely make it to two of those events, the Derby is questionable but I will try.

I will be at the roller derby no doubt and most likely Marli's (either night doesnt really make a difference to me)...I am weighing paint balling against another option (which I have not yet RSVP'ed to! haha), Andrea when do you need to know by???

Tom, the film includes in-depth discussion on both type I and type II diabetes. Both are treatable and reversable in pretty much the same fashion: Simply Raw! With type I, the process of going completely off the medication is more challenging and it takes a bit longer than type II. Come watch the film and dispel the myths about diabetes that western medicine proudly advertises to the masses (due primarily to the profit margin - there is no profit to be made in the cure). The gentleman who produced the film, Dr. Gabriel Cousens, has wrote numerous books on the subject matter. His most recent book is entitled: "There Is a Cure for Diabetes".

Count us out for paint ball but for the Derby match we are definately considering going. We'll know for sure as the date approaches.

Antonio, I appreciate your comments and understand what you're saying. My daughter's diabetes, unfortunately, is compounded by the fact that she's also autistic. Eating is an issue in the first place so to try and get her to eat something that isn't totally palatable is out of the question. These things happen and we learn to deal with them.

Hi everyone! These events sound great but, I have a bunch of commitments this weekend. Paintball...hmmm that's really over my head, I'm a wuss sorry. Chris and I have a friend from Florida coming on the week of the 19th so that's out for me also. I think I heard Andrea mention great adventure? If that happens I want in and keep me posted on the other events!

Claire... Great Adventures is on June 5 which is a Friday because someone (ahem) doesn't like to go on the weekends since it's over-crowded. ;-)

But we can always schedule another GA trip towards the end of Summer.

I am currently working on White Water Rafting (not the Colorado kind, this one is not dangerous) for possibly end of July... I'll keep you posted. =)
